HOW TO REVISE FORM 26QB (TDS ON SALE OF PROPERTY)?

 

If you made an error while filing Form 26QB, you can request a correction through TRACES. Follow the steps below to revise your Form 26QB:

 

1. Check if Form 26QB Correction is Required

Common errors that need correction: 

Incorrect PAN of Buyer/Seller

Wrong Property Details (Address, Sale Value, etc.) 

Incorrect TDS Amount

Mistaken Date of Agreement/Payment

 

2. Steps to Revise Form 26QB

-Register on TRACES Portal (If Not Registered)

Go to [https://www.tdscpc.gov.in]

Click on "Register as New User" → "Taxpayer"

Enter PAN of Buyer, DOB, and Form 26QB details 

Submit & Activate your account via OTP 

 

-Request for Form 26QB Correction

Login to TRACES Portal

Go to “Statements/Forms” → Click on "Request for Correction"

Enter Acknowledgment Number (from the original Form 26QB filing) 

Select the details you want to correct (PAN, Property Details, TDS Amount, etc.) 

Upload supporting documents (e.g., Sale Agreement, PAN Card copy if correcting PAN) 

Click "Submit"

 

 

Step 3: Verification & Approval

- If you correct PAN details, approval from the Assessing Officer (AO) is required. 

- For other changes, online correction is processed automatically. 

Processing Time: Usually 7-10 working days

 

 

3. Check Status of Correction Request

Login to TRACES

Go to "Statements/Forms" → "Track Correction Request"

Enter Request Number → Click "View Status"

 

If Approved → Download the revised acknowledgment 

If Rejected → Check the reason & submit a fresh request 

 

 

4. Download Corrected Form 16B (TDS Certificate)

Once the correction is processed:

Login to TRACES

Go to "Downloads" → "Form 16B (for Buyer)"

Request & download the revised Form 16B

Provide the updated Form 16B to the Seller

 

Important Notes

Correction via TRACES is FREE

Correction can be done ONLY ONCE, so enter details carefully 

If the payment amount is incorrect, refund requests need to be filed separately
